Genuine Manuka honey has a distinct taste, colour and viscosity, that varies from season to season as well as from region to region. Over time all factors change characteristically.

The range of typical organoleptic properties can be described as follows:

Colour Light amber/brown to medium amber/brown, darkens over time.
Taste Medium sweetness, different depths of earthy mineral flavor, richly floral, nutty nodes, grows in intensity over time.
Aroma Slightly nutty, damp earthy, herbaceous aroma, heather.
Texture/Viscosity Gel like consistency, viscous, neither runny nor overly firm. Crystallizes over time.

Interestingly, Manuka honey’s chemical composition and organoleptic properties are very much dependent on the region where the bees forage. BeesMagic® honey originates from selected remote regions with a multitude of different sites. This has enabled us to supply a wide range of customized specifications meeting our client’s varied needs.
